Charger swimmers edged by archrival Rockets

Lose: 83 - 99
An epic rematch was sure to follow-up Livonia Churchill and Westland John Glenn's swimming and diving meet in 2015. Churchill won that meet by one point and the win catapulted them to their best South Division Meet finish in 7 years. The two Schools continued their rivalry Thursday night with a back and forth meet that the Rockets got the better of this time, 89-83. Top stat lines for the Chargers included four first place finishes and five personal records. Freshman Sophia Brylinski was the swimmer of the meet for CHS with an eleven second time drop in the 500 Freestyle enroute to a .07 second advantage over Glenn's Alahna Rudd. She also swam the backstroke leg of the Chargers' 1st place 200 Medley relay. Top finishes for JG included Kera Sells in the 100 Butterfly and Backstroke, and the 400 Freestyle Relay team of Sidney Aloisi, Rudd, Rebecca Hallman, and Sells.

Churchill Swimming won their home opener in convincing fashion on Thursday night. They beat up on Walled Lake Western 102-67 in a total team win. Big swims came from Molly Lancaster in the 200 Freestyle and Allison McConnell in the 200 IM.

Charger Swimming and Diving took a hard loss against Walled Lake Central on Tuesday night. The Vikings top swimmers and divers held off Churchill's depth in a 102 -80 result. Top performers for Churchill were Sophia Brylinski and Julia Lewis in the 100 Backstroke, Natalie Yurgil in Diving, and Rachel Divinigracia in the 100 Butterfly.

Churchill Swimming and Diving opened their season with a hectic loss to Salem on Wednesday. Outnumbered 28-80, the girls fought hard but couldn't overcome the Rocks' depth. Bright spots for the Chargers came from Freshman Sophia Brylinski: she won the 50 Freestyle. And from Natalie Yurgil who took second in the Diving event.
