The Charger Freshman Volleyball team headed to Adrian on Monday to take on multiple teams.  The Chargers started their day with a 25-0, 25-7 and 15-4 victory over Carlson followed by a battle with always tough Bedford.  The Bedford Mules came out kicking, but the Lady Chargers fought back to 25-19, 23-25, 15-13 victory to secure the #1 seed going into bracket play.

With the #1 seed in hand the Chargers had a first round bye in the 7 team tournament.  After Jonesville knocked off Carlson the Lady Chargers sent them packing as well.  In the bottom half of the bracket Bedford bumped Marshall in round and then host Adrian in the second round to bring them to the finals with our Chargers.  The girls came out a little slow after a long wait while the bottom half of the bracket battled.  The Mules had redemption on their mind and a little momentum in their back pocket.  In a great final match the Bedford Mules took home the hardware over the Lady Chargers.

Even though the hardware did not come back to Livonia it was a great start to the Freshman Volleyball season.  Leading the way for the Chargers was Mya Grant with 18 kills, 14 blocks(2 solo and 12 assists) along with Abby Woods adding 9 kills, 5 solo and 3 assist blocks, and Carly Dlugos with 9 kills and 5 assist blocks.  All that offense was made possible by the hands of Nina Gaffke (36/38 with 20 assists), Marisa Kozlowski (34/37 with 23 assists) and Sara Gwizdz (15/16 with 10 assists).Defensively the Chargers were led by Saydee Viau with 28 digs.  Others Chargers that contributed to a great day were Allie Fulton, Emily Gatrell, Paige McCausland and Grace Facione.

The Chargers hope to continue the great start in Northville on Thursday when they start the day taking on Wayne beginning at 9am.  Other teams participating are Waterford Kettering, Plymouth, Northville, Mott and Pioneer.
