The Lady Chargers Volleyball swept District 19 hosted by Livonia Stevenson.  The Chargers took to the court Halloween evening and swept Garden City, 25-9, 25-6, and 25-17.  The win put them in Round 2 against Westland John Glenn where they swept them 25-6, 25-15 and 25-15 to move them to the finals against host and rival Livonia Stevenson.  Thursday evening the ladies took to the court against the Spartans.  The slow start quickly heated up and the Lady Chargers were so hot they set off the fire alarms in the middle of the third set.  When play resumed the ladies did not skip a beat and finished things off quickly, 25-10, 25-17, and 25-11.  Leading the team in kills was Senior Sam Zonca with 11 and assisting her was Senior Setter Megan Gendjar with 33 assists.  Senior Anne Yost contributed 8 kills, 4 aces and 2 solo blocks.  Known for their ‘ferocious defense’, the Lady Chargers were led by Senior Ally Facionewith 19 digs and Senior Madi Mirabitur with 10 digs.  The future certainly looks bright for the Lady Chargers as Freshman Sarah Dunn and Sophomore Summer Clark also contributed 7 and 6 kills respectively and Freshman Jessica Maladeckicontributed 7 digs.

The Lady Chargers advance to the Regional Semi-Finals being hosted by Garden City High School on Tuesday, November 8th at 7pm versus the winner of the Detroit Renaissance District to be determined this evening.  Thank you to everyone who came to support us in Districts, we hope to see all of you and more at Ragionals in Garden City on Tuesday.
